Hello there. I’m Craig Ross, your go-to guy for all things voiceover, nestled right here in the heart of South Africa. My story? Oh, it’s a mix of Scottish grit, musical vibes, and a dash of serendipity, all shaken up in the sunny skies of South Africa.
Let’s rewind a bit. Picture this: granny Mary, hailing from the UK, sets her sights on South Africa during the 40s, not knowing she’s laying down roots for what’s going to be a legacy in voice and sound. Fast forward through the melodies of my granddad Wiley’s stage performances and my dad’s jingles echoing off the radio walls of our home in Port Elizabeth, and you’ve got a young Craig, wide-eyed, bushy-tailed, and utterly fascinated by the power of voice.
I remember sitting next to dad, marvelling at how he spun words into gold for the radio. That pride swelling in my chest when I recognized his voice on air? Unbeatable. “I’m going to do this,” I told myself. And do it, I did. I packed my bags for Cape Town, ready to carve my own path in the voiceover world. It wasn’t just a journey; it was a quest to revolutionize voiceover training and performance in South Africa.
Fast forward to now, and I’m the proud CEO of the South African Voiceover Academy (SAVOA), where we’re all about breathing life into scripts and nurturing the next generation of voiceover talents. My adventures have seen me working with some big-shot brands, bringing their stories to life with a pinch of my voiceover magic.
I’m all about guarantees — not just any guarantees, but a solid promise that if my voice doesn’t spin your story into the stratosphere, I’m not keeping your cash. Yep, you heard that right. It’s all part of my commitment to delivering nothing short of excellence.
Behind the scenes, I’m a gear nerd, rocking the studio with my Neumann TLM 103, Apogee Duet interface, Focusrite mic pre dual mono, and my trusty iMac to capture the perfect sound. When I’m not voice acting, I’m mixing beats and dabbling in deep house tracks with a sprinkle of progressive vibes. Music is my playground, and the studio, my kingdom.

Started the South African Voice Over Academy. We coach up and coming Voice Artists, providing them with the skill and the resources to be confident in pursuing their passion of voice over.

Regarding my studio setup and equipment inventory:
My workstation centers around an iMac.
Vocal recordings are captured with a Neumann TLM 103 Condenser Microphone.
For mic preamplification, I utilize the Focusrite ISA 2, a dual mono mic pre.
The audio interface of choice is the DUET by Apogee.
Monitoring is conducted through FOCAL reference monitors.
For personal monitoring, I use HD 280 PRO Headphones.
MIDI input is handled by a Novation Launchkey 61.
The recording environment is acoustically treated, featuring high-frequency absorption panels and bass traps for optimal sound quality.
